Christabel Ohaka: From Virtual Assistant to Email Marketing Superstar

How it all stared;

For years, I worked as a Virtual Assistant, offering administrative and customer support services to small business owners and entrepreneurs.

My work involved organizing tasks, managing schedules, handling client communication, and ensuring everything behind the scenes ran smoothly. I was proud of the structure and support I brought to my clients’ businesses.

However, I always sensed there was more I could offer—something that allowed me to combine my strengths in communication, organization, and strategy to drive even greater impact.

Why I Transitioned into a Career in Email Marketing

As I searched for new ways to increase my value and income, my husband came across the KISSmarketers Email Marketing Bootcamp.

The more I learned about email marketing, the more I saw how it aligned with my natural strengths and passion for digital communication.

 I realized that email marketing wasn’t just about sending messages—it was about understanding people, building relationships, and turning attention into action. That discovery lit a spark in me. I wanted to be a part of that.

Inside the KISSmarketers Bootcamp

Enrolling in the bootcamp was a bold step, especially with no prior experience in marketing or knowledge of tools like Klaviyo or Mailchimp.

I had my doubts—was I ready to shift gears so drastically? Would I be able to keep up with the pace of learning something entirely new?

What if it’s hard? What’s if I don’t pass the text and task?

But the support within the bootcamp was phenomenal. I learned not only the technical side of email marketing, but also how to craft engaging copy, create targeted campaigns, segmentation, and analyze results to improve performance.

It wasn’t easy—juggling coursework with life responsibilities especially as a pregnant woman and the occasional self-doubt—but the transformation was worth it. I’ve grown in confidence, developed new skills, and now see myself as a digital marketer in the making.

A New Outlook on My Career

The bootcamp has reshaped my perspective on what’s possible. I no longer see myself as “just” a Virtual Assistant.

I now identify as a developing Email Marketer with the potential to drive business growth through strategic communication.

I’m excited about the journey ahead—from learning to applying to earning—and I’m grateful for the clarity and direction this bootcamp has provided, I’m also grateful I have smart colleagues. With every campaign I’ve learnt, I see how far I’ve come—and I’m just getting started.
